NEW YORK (Diya TV) – The T20 World Cup is underway and it has started with a loud bang.

In possibly the biggest upset in cricket history, USA knocked off Pakistan by five runs Thursday. The big win comes off the heels of a seven-wicket victory over Canada on Saturday. The match needed extra time to be decided with the Super Over coming into play after regulation.

To put into context how massive this upset is, enter Saurabh Netravalker. The bowler is one of USA’s top players, but his full-time job is at Oracle as a Principal Engineer in San Mateo, California. Netravalker bowled the Super Over, helping to secure the win for USA. He discussed the balance of being a software engineer while also playing international cricket.

“The best part is that I have got very supportive bosses and am allowed to work remotely when I am on tour, playing for the United States,” Netravalker reflected.

Elsewhere on the turf, India took down Ireland by eight wickets on Wednesday in their first group-stage match. Next up for India is a massive rivalry affair against Pakistan on Sunday. It’s sure to be an intriguing matchup considering the opening results for both of these squads to open up the T20 World Cup.

Following the Pakistan match, India will face Netravalker and Co. in a bout against USA on Wednesday. Suffice it to say, the next two matches for India will be challenging.
