SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Online ticket reseller StubHub sold its most expensive pair of non-suite tickets for an event on Friday afternoon, the company reported someone paid $49,500 apiece for two courtside tickets to Sunday’s deciding Game 7 matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers.
StubHub spokesman Cameron Papp said the price of the tickets topped the company’s previous record of $37,000 paid for a courtside ticket to Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics. The company also sold a ticket for last year’s mega-bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao for $35,000.
The identity of the buyer was not revealed, but Papp said the person is “well known.”
Hip hop mogul Jay Z and his wife, pop singer Beyonce, were spotted courtside at Game 6 in Cleveland on Thursday. Singer Justin Bieber and international Brazilian soccer star Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior were spotted hanging out with Golden State in their locker room after Game 2. Usher, who attended Game 5 in Oakland, is a documented fan of the Cavaliers. Actress Jessica Alba is publicly known as being a fan of the Warriors as her husband, Cash Warren, once had a production company with former Golden State star Baron Davis.
And of course, everyone is familiar with the bond superstar Drake and MVP Stephen Curry share.
The Cavaliers have won their last two games against the Warriors in the Finals to set the stage for the dramatic Game 7 — LeBron James & Co. are seeking to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 series deficit in the Finals to win the title.
StubHub sold five tickets to Game 6 in Cleveland for $25,000 apiece, while the Warriors’ resale site sold two tickets on Friday to Sunday’s game for $21,500 each.
