LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is undergoing a significant leadership shift, with Ravi Ahuja, currently the head of television, being appointed as the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the entire studio. This move, announced by SPE Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra in an internal memo, signals a clear succession plan for the future.

Effective April 1, Ahuja will step into his new role while continuing to lead Sony’s television division. He will be based at Sony’s Poitier Building in Culver City, maintaining his position as the chief of Sony Pictures Television and reporting directly to Vinciquerra. Tom Rothman will remain in his role as chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s motion picture group, reporting to Vinciquerra.

During Ahuja’s tenure, Sony has witnessed growth and strategic development in its television division. Under his leadership, Sony has expanded its scripted franchises, collaborated with Sony’s gaming arm, and made strategic acquisitions, including Industrial Media and Pixomondo. Ahuja’s strategic insight and execution have been instrumental in enhancing Sony’s businesses and positioning SPE for future success.

Ahuja, who joined Sony in 2021 after holding leadership positions at Disney and Fox, expressed excitement about the future path of the company. He highlighted the success achieved during his tenure and emphasized the importance of collaboration and strategic vision in navigating industry challenges.
