LONG ISLAND (Diya TV) — The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Hicksville man, Simranjeet Singh, for burglary that occurred in Hicksville on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 1:55 am. According to detectives, Second Precinct police responded to a Princess Street residence for Criminal Mischief and Assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, police observed that a 2011 Volkswagen parked outside the residence had damage to all windows and two headlights. During an investigation, defendant Simranjeet Singh, 27, of 29 Thorman Avenue, was observed exiting the rear yard and identified as being one of many attackers inside the residence. Singh was placed into police custody.

Further investigation revealed that multiple unknown male subjects had entered the residence through a basement door. Once inside, the subjects carried various objects, including a black handgun and a large metal sword. The assailants launched a vicious assault on at least five male victims while they were in their bedrooms, causing them serious injuries.

A 23-year-old male victim identified defendant Singh as the individual who swung a large sword, striking him in the back and causing a laceration. Another 20-year-old male victim reported that Singh swung a large sword at him, striking his left leg, left forearm, right thumb, and palm, resulting in lacerations. A 21-year-old male victim identified the defendant as swinging a sword and striking him in his right foot and leg, causing deep lacerations. Additionally, a 20-year-old male victim stated that multiple assailants entered his bedroom, striking him with a piece of wood before punching him and hitting him with a black handgun, resulting in bruising and swelling.

Emergency services transported all four injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment. Both the black handgun and the large metal sword used in the assault have been recovered.

Defendant Simranjeet Singh faces a litany of charges, including two counts of Burglary 1st Degree, Assault First Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Gang Assault 1st Degree, Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree, and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
