CINCINNATI (Diya TV) — Procter & Gamble has named Indian-born executive Shailesh Jejurikar as chairman of the board, marking another major leadership milestone at one of the world’s largest consumer goods companies. The appointment takes effect on Aug. 1. Jejurikar will continue serving as the company’s president and chief executive officer while taking on the additional responsibility.
The leadership change follows the planned retirement of Jon Moeller, who will step down from the board on July 31. He will officially retire from the company on Aug. 14 after nearly four decades of service. The transition comes as Procter & Gamble continues to strengthen its global business and expand its position in the consumer goods industry.
Jejurikar, who was born and raised in India, brings more than three decades of experience to the role. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and joined Procter & Gamble in 1989. Since then, he has held several leadership positions across different business units and international markets.
Throughout his career, Jejurikar has worked across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He helped expand several of P&G’s core businesses while improving operations in key markets. In addition, he supported the company’s efforts to strengthen its supply chain, information technology systems, and global business services. Those initiatives helped improve efficiency and supported long-term growth.
Jejurikar also served as the executive sponsor for global sustainability from 2016 through 2021. During that period, he supported programs that focused on responsible business practices and environmental goals. His leadership reflected the company’s broader commitment to sustainable growth while meeting consumer needs.
As he prepares to take over as chairman, Jejurikar praised Moeller’s leadership and long service to the company. He said Moeller’s strategic vision helped shape the modern Procter & Gamble and strengthened the organization for future success.
“I want to thank Jon for his many years of tireless and steady leadership at P&G, having served in key roles including Executive Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer throughout his 38 years of dedicated service to the company,” Jejurikar said in the company announcement.
Recently, Fortune included the company on its 2026 America’s Most Innovative Companies list for the third straight year.
