India’s newest consulate in the United States is now open in Seattle, an effort that has been years in the making. The Seattle Consulate’s jurisdiction will cover nine states: Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Alaska, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota. At a Republic Day Reception, new Seattle Consul General of India, Seattle Prakash Gupta introduced himself to the community and was followed by Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Rep. Adam Smith. A number of other local dignitaries were also on hand for the occasion.
