MINNEAPOLIS (Diya TV) — Renee Good’s family filed two federal lawsuits Thursday against the U.S. government, the immigration officer who killed her and senior administration officials, alleging wrongful death and civil rights violations.

ICE officer Jonathan Ross fatally shot Good, a U.S. citizen and mother of three, during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis in January. Her partner, Becca Good, and brother, Brent Ganger, brought the cases on behalf of the family.

One lawsuit names the United States and seeks damages under Minnesota law for wrongful death, assault, battery, false imprisonment, negligence and emotional distress.

The second alleges that federal officials and agents conspired to interfere with civil rights during Operation Metro Surge. It names Ross and officials including White House adviser Stephen Miller and former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The family seeks a jury trial.

Video captured Ross approaching Good’s SUV as it partly blocked a street. Another agent ordered her to get out. Good briefly reversed, then moved forward while turning the steering wheel. Ross fired into the vehicle.

Federal officials defended the shooting as self-defense. A White House spokesperson called the lawsuits baseless and said the administration would defend itself in court. Ross could not be reached for comment, Reuters reported.

Ross has not faced criminal charges. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty continues to investigate Good’s death and the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti during the same enforcement operation.

Minnesota authorities sued the federal government earlier this year for access to evidence from the shootings. In July, Moriarty’s office announced that investigators had received previously withheld evidence, including Good’s vehicle and federal investigative files. State officials said they were reviewing that material.
