SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — As the crisis in Sri Lanka worsens, the island nation has named Ranil Wickremesinghe the new prime minister, as its embattled president seeks a way out of the country’s worst economic crisis since independence that has sparked widespread protests. Wickremesinghe is a political veteran who has been prime minister of Sri Lanka five times before.
The diversity office at the University of California San Francisco has explicitly excluded certain Asian American students including Indians and Pakistanis from its definition of racial minorities. It’s unclear how or why the school came to this decision. Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese are also not included on the list of racial minorities.
The South Asian Bar Association is congratulating Nagesh Chelluri on becoming the highest-ranking and first Indian American Colonel in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
