NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Post-election violence is spiraling out of control in India’s West Bengal state,  after a regional group beat Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party in a bitterly fought contest. Clashes continue between rival political workers and several people have died. The Trinamool Congress retained control of the populous eastern state with Modi’s Bharatiya Janaya Party emerging as the main opposition there for the first time.

The Covid-19 crisis in India is preventing Australian residents and citizens from returning home. They’ve been banned from entering Australia and those who disobey will face fines and jail time. The government will re-evaluate the situation later this month.

And Indian Actor Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter account has been permanently suspended after a controversial tweet related to the post-election result violence in Bengal. Twitter says the account repeatedly violated the company’s policy on “hateful conduct and abusive behavior.”Renaut says she’s unfazed and says she has many other platforms to raise her voice.
