SALEM (Diya TV) — Governor Tina Kotek has officially appointed Dr. Sejal Hathi as the new director of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). Dr. Hathi, a distinguished professional with over a decade of experience in medicine, health policy, education, and nonprofit development, will assume her role on January 16, 2024.

Oregon Health Authority plays a vital role in ensuring equitable healthcare access throughout the state. 

Dr. Hathi’s background spans frontline medical practice, policy shaping at the White House, and the founding of two non-profits dedicated to women and girls’ leadership.

Before joining OHA, Dr. Hathi served as New Jersey’s deputy health commissioner for public health services and state health officer. She also played a pivotal role as the Senior Policy Advisor for Public Health at the White House, leading various Administration priorities for the Domestic Policy Council.

A board-certified attending physician, Dr. Hathi held faculty appointments as an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

She has held various national board positions related to public service and public health. Dr. Hathi is a founding board member of Indiaspora and has been a speaker at TEDWomen, the World Health Assembly, and the United Nations.

Dr. Hathi also holds an honors degree from Yale University (B.S.) and dual degrees from Stanford University (M.D./M.B.A.).
