NEW YORK (Diya TV) — New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams has vowed to “sign Diwali into a holiday” after he takes office Jan. 1. The city is home to more than 330,000 South Asians and Indo-Caribbeans, many of whom celebrate the religious festival of lights. Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains around the world.
California Congressman Ro Khanna is calling out Melinda Byerly for her tweets suggesting that Indian American immigrants are ‘parasites’ and should go home. Byerly is a white woman and the chief diversity officer at the Oswald Mosley Institute. Khanna says the thread reveals shocking ignorance more than anything else. Byerly eventually apologized after getting slammed on social media.
The U.S. is joining the International Solar Alliance, first started by India and France several years ago. It could give a massive boost to solar power usage around the world.
