TOKYO (Diya TV) — Nissan Motor Company announced on Friday the promotion of Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar to the position of Corporate Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, effective April 1, 2024. Formerly serving as Vice President of Nissan Global Communications, Wadgaonkar will now take charge of overseeing Nissan’s communication endeavors both in Japan and globally, coinciding with the launch of Nissan’s new business plan, The Arc. In addition to her communication duties, Wadgaonkar will continue her role as the global champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), working to foster an inclusive workplace environment. She will report directly to Makoto Uchida, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Nissan.

Wadgaonkar’s journey with Nissan began in 2012 when she joined Nissan India as the Vice President of Corporate Communications & CSR, later expanding her responsibilities to lead communication and external government affairs for Nissan Asia & Oceania in 2016. With over 28 years of international experience spanning strategic communications, public affairs, brand management, and marketing, Wadgaonkar’s expertise will play a pivotal role in steering Nissan’s communication strategies into the future.

Prior to her tenure at Nissan, Wadgaonkar held leadership roles in communications and marketing at renowned companies such as Lexmark, Reliance, and Eaton. Originally from Hyderabad, India, Wadgaonkar holds a PhD, an MPhil, and a Masters degree from Osmania University.
