NEWARK, N.J. (Diya TV) — U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba has announced the formation of a federal Election Integrity Task Force aimed at safeguarding the state’s electoral processes.
The task force will comprise federal prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, alongside agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other federal agencies. Their collective mission is to ensure that elections in New Jersey are conducted fairly, lawfully, and with the highest standards of integrity.
Key Objectives of the Task Force:
- Enhancing Voter Roll Accuracy: Facilitating information sharing between federal, state, and local officials to efficiently remove individuals who are not eligible to vote from state voter lists.
- Investigating Election Crimes: Prioritizing the investigation and prosecution of election-related offenses, including voter registration fraud, casting of fraudulent ballots, voting by non-citizens, multiple voting in the same election, and foreign interference through illegal donations from foreign nationals.
- Ensuring Compliance: Taking appropriate steps to ensure adherence to the voter list maintenance requirements outlined in the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act.
“Together with our federal partners, we are fully committed to ensuring that elections in New Jersey are conducted fairly, lawfully, and with the highest standards of integrity,” said U.S. Attorney Habba. “The Election Integrity Task Force will take every necessary step to uphold federal election laws and will not hesitate to pursue those who attempt to undermine our democratic process.
Habba, who previously served as a White House counselor and was a prominent figure in President Trump’s legal team, was appointed interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey in March 2025. Her appointment followed a series of controversial legal involvements, including sanctions for filing a frivolous lawsuit and facing judicial rebuke during Trump’s defamation trial.
In addition to the Election Integrity Task Force, Habba has launched the Fentanyl Precursor Interception (FPI) Strike Force, aiming to dismantle the supply chains of fentanyl precursors entering the United States, particularly from overseas manufacturers.
