WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Marko Elez, a 25-year-old staffer at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), resigned Thursday after reports linked him to a deleted social media account that promoted racist views and eugenics. The Wall Street Journal uncovered posts from the account advocating for the repeal of the Civil Rights Act and supporting a “eugenic immigration policy.” One post read, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” while another stated, “Normalize Indian hate.” The account also expressed hostility toward both Gaza and Israel.

Elez, who previously worked with Elon Musk’s companies SpaceX, Starlink, and X, was among two DOGE employees granted access to the Treasury Department’s central payment systems following a recent court decision. His resignation came shortly after the Journal’s inquiry into his social media activity.

The Department of Government Efficiency, led by Musk, has been tasked with streamlining federal operations and reducing wasteful spending. However, the agency has faced criticism for appointing young staffers with limited government experience to positions of significant authority. Elez’s departure has intensified scrutiny of DOGE’s hiring practices and its influence within federal agencies.

In response to the incident, Virginia Congressman Don Beyer labeled Elez’s resignation as “a scandal,” emphasizing the importance of merit-based hiring and thorough vetting processes for civil servants. He criticized the decision to grant Elez access to sensitive financial systems and called for accountability among those involved in his appointment.
