NEW YORK  (Diya TV) — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his charm offensive in the United States at a CEO roundtable in New York. Modi, who addressed the UN over climate change earlier in the week, put on his business hat, emphasizing India was the market for companies to invest in for scale, infrastructure and urbanization.

Bloomberg announced they will work with India to help the nation gain access to global bond indexes, a move to lure more international investors into Asia’s third-largest economy.

Sujatha Baliga of Berkeley, California was named a MacArthur Fellow, one of the 26 around the world. Baliga, who helps survivors of sexual assault to attain justice, will receive a Genius Grant worth $625,000.

After 76 days on hunger strike and almost a year in ICE detention, Ajay Kumar was released from custody in El Paso. The 33 year old now weighs just 107 pounds and will live in New Mexico with his sponsors in his effort to convince the immigration system he will face persecution if returned to India. An immigration judge initially denied his asylum request, but Kumar is appealing.
