SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Diya TV) — U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi has launched a new photo contest that invites residents of Illinois’ 8th Congressional District to share what connects them to America as the nation prepares to mark its 250th anniversary.
The America250 Photo Contest encourages community members to submit photographs that reflect their personal connection to the United States. The initiative forms part of the nationwide celebration leading up to the country’s semiquincentennial in 2026.
Krishnamoorthi announced the contest through social media and called on residents throughout the district to participate. He encouraged people to capture meaningful moments, places, traditions, or experiences that represent their relationship with the nation.
“Illinois’ Eighth District: Show us what connects you to America,” Krishnamoorthi said in a social media post announcing the program. He noted that the contest aims to highlight the stories and perspectives of residents across the district as the country approaches a historic milestone.
Residents who wish to enter must submit their photographs by June 26. Participants can send entries to [email protected]. According to Krishnamoorthi’s office, selected or winning photographs may appear on the congressman’s social media channels. In addition, organizers may feature the images in a digital gallery that showcases local participation in the America250 celebration.
The contest arrives as communities across the country prepare for events tied to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
