SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Diya TV) – Home teams that lose Game 1 of the NBA Finals typically mount a furious fight in Game 2 and the San Antonio Spurs certainly did that. But the experience and poise of the New York Knicks shined once again and they are now just two wins away from winning their first NBA championship since 1973.

The Knicks took the lead at halftime paced by outstanding play from Karl Anthony Towns, who paced New York with 21 points and 13 rebounds on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting.

The Spurs appeared out of the game midway through the 4th quarter, but went on a 14-0 run to erase a double-digit deficit and tie the game late in the fourth quarter. They then grabbed their first lead of the game with under a minute remaining when Victor Wembanyama threw down a dunk.

Jalen Brunson answered immediately, knocking down a clutch jumper to tie the score. With 39 seconds remaining, Wembanyama had a chance to put the Spurs back on top but missed a wide-open shot. Then after stopping the Knicks on offense, Wemby had a costly turnover that had allowed the Knicks to regain a one-point lead.

On the final play, Wemby had another open shot that missed off the back iron allowing the Knicks to hold on 105-104. It’s their 13th straight playoff victory and eighth consecutive win on the road. After two tremendous games in Texas, Game 3 is in New York on Monday.
