PARIS (Diya TV) – Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles has lost her bronze medal after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) denied her appeal, despite new evidence suggesting the appeal was submitted on time. The controversy centers around the women’s individual floor exercise at the 2024 Olympics, where Chiles initially finished fifth. A successful appeal increased her score, awarding her the bronze medal.

However, Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea counter-challenged the decision, arguing that Chiles’ appeal was filed past the deadline. Despite the new evidence presented by Chiles’ legal team, which appeared to confirm the timeliness of her submission, CAS ruled in favor of Barbosu and Maneca-Voinea, leading to the revocation of Chiles’ medal. The bronze will now be awarded to Barbosu.

The decision has sparked controversy and disappointment within the gymnastics community, particularly among Chiles’ supporters.

USA Gymnastics has announced that it plans to continue the fight on Chiles’ behalf, with an appeal to the Swiss Federal Tribunal already in the works. Chiles has vowed to keep fighting for justice in this matter, leaving open the possibility of further legal challenges. The gymnastics world now waits to see how this high-profile dispute will ultimately be resolved.
