NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Tata Group and Intel Corporation announced a strategic alliance aimed at boosting India’s semiconductor and AI computing ecosystem. The partnership will explore opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, and AI-enabled computing solutions.

The agreement comes as India seeks to strengthen its domestic semiconductor capabilities and build a resilient supply chain for electronics manufacturing. Both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on consumer and enterprise hardware, including Intel product manufacturing at Tata Electronics’ upcoming Fab and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities.

The collaboration marks a significant step for India’s semiconductor sector. It focuses on developing advanced packaging capabilities within the country, which experts say is vital for India’s growing role in the global semiconductor market.

N. Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, emphasized the importance of the alliance. “The Tata Group is deeply committed to developing a robust semiconductor industry in India. We are excited to collaborate with Intel, and this strategic alliance would accelerate our efforts. Together, we will drive an expanded technology ecosystem and deliver leading semiconductors and systems solutions, positioning us well to capture the large and growing AI opportunity,” he said.

The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for domestic manufacturing and strengthen the country’s technology infrastructure. It also aims to support India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing technology markets, projected to rank among the top five globally by 2030.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan highlighted the growing demand for computing and AI solutions in India. “Intel’s technology has driven decades of advancement in computing, and as we continue to innovate, our ambition is to broaden our reach, accelerate growth, and deliver even greater value to our customers. We see this as a tremendous opportunity to collaborate with Tata to rapidly scale in one of the world’s fastest-growing compute markets, fueled by rising PC demand and rapid AI adoption across India,” he said.

The alliance will explore AI-enabled PC solutions for both consumers and businesses. This move aligns with Intel’s broader strategy to expand its presence in emerging markets and meet the rising global demand for advanced computing technologies.

Randhir Thakur, CEO and managing director of Tata Electronics, said the partnership fits perfectly with the company’s expansion plans. “This MoU aligns with Tata Electronics’ roadmap across EMS, OSAT, and Semiconductor Fab, enabling a reliable and resilient supply chain for our customers. This collaboration would drive cost competitiveness, faster time-to-market, greater operational agility, and enable Intel products to capture the surging demand for next-generation AI compute in India,” he said.

Tata Electronics’ facilities will help improve operational efficiency and reduce dependency on imports. The MoU also signals Tata’s commitment to strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem while supporting the country’s long-term vision for technology self-reliance.

Intel has been active in India for nearly four decades. The new alliance with the Tata Group represents a continuation of Intel’s long-term commitment to the Indian market. Together, the companies plan to advance semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, create jobs, and promote research and development in AI and computing.
