CHICAGO (Diya TV) — Indian student Syed Mazahir Ali, who is originally from Hyderabad, Telangana, survived a harrowing ordeal after being attacked in Chicago, near his apartment.

The graduate student at Indiana Wesleyan University explained in a shocking social media video that he was attacked by four individuals, who left Ali in a state of shock after suffering severe trauma to his head and face.

Ali said he was ambushed and robbed by the four assailants while returning home.

The Indian consulate in Chicago has assured Ali and his family of all possible assistance. Consular authorities are engaged with local law enforcement to ensure an investigation into the attack.

Ali’s wife, Ruqiya Fatima, has reached out to Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, seeking help to reunite with her husband in the US, who is being treated for his injuries.

This incident adds to a series of recent deaths involving Indian students in the US. In recent weeks, 19-year-old Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a student at Ohio’s Lindner School of Business, died. Neel Acharya, a student at Purdue University, was found dead after being reported missing.
