CHICAGO (Diya TV) — The long Fourth of July weekend was busy for many members of the Indian American diaspora. From the World Tamil Conference in Chicago and the Telugu Association of North America’s Conference in Washington, DC to the JAINA Convention in Los Angeles and the AAPI Convention in Atlanta, there’s a lot to recap from a busy weekend. 

US-India trade continues to grow. According to U.S. Census data, U.S. exports are up 26% from a year ago to $8.6 billion, a new record.

Bay Area Congressman Eric Swalwell is dropping out of the 2020 presidential race, becoming the first Democrat to do so. He had announced he was stepping down from his House seat to pursue the presidency. But he has changed course and now will run for re-election.

Jaipur City in Rajasthan, India was named by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Heritage Site, elevating the region to a status shared by the Taj Mahal and the Grand Canyon, among others.

And the U.S. women’s soccer team completed their dominant run through the World Cup, beating the Netherlands 2-0 to secure their fourth world title.
