NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Two Indian Americans, Arvind Krishna and Anima Anandkumar, are among the winners of the 2025 TIME100 AI Impact Awards, honoring global leaders shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
Krishna, chairman and CEO of IBM, has focused on niche AI, prioritizing efficiency and industry-specific use cases over large, resource-hungry models. His vision has helped IBM develop smaller, accessible AI tools for businesses, with a 10% boost in AI-powered software sales and the company’s stock reaching an all-time high of $240 billion. Krishna is also a staunch supporter of quantum computing, expecting a breakthrough in the technology by 2030.
Anandkumar, a professor at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), is a leader in applying AI to advance scientific research. Her pioneering work on “neural operators” enables AI to model complex physical systems at unprecedented speed and accuracy. She has led breakthroughs in AI-driven weather forecasting, nuclear fusion research, and medical device development. One of her most significant projects, FourCastNet, allows for highly accurate week-long weather forecasts in seconds, while her AI-driven plasma simulations improve the safety of fusion reactors.
