MUMBAI (Diya TV) —
Marine Drive in Mumbai turned into madness. After India’s win in the ICC T20 World Cup, the city partied like champions in the victory parade Thursday. More than a decade since their last world title, the fans finally got to relive the success that had eluded the team for quite a while.
Captains Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya among other players rode on an open bus to Wankhede Stadium, where there would be a ceremony for the team. Along the way, droves of fans surrounded the bus and cheered on the players in a massive celebration.
Thursday itself happened to be quite eventful for the team. In the morning, India flew from Barbados to New Delhi where they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following that, they headed to Mumbai. The fans in both cities were eagerly awaiting their arrival with “India! India! India!” chants breaking out and big crowds forming wherever they went.
The parade drew comparisons to Argentina’s World Cup parade due to the sheer amount of fans who packed the streets and unified to celebrate a world title win. Ironically, both parades had a large contingent of blue due to team colors.
A moment of glory for India was expressed through this parade and fans streamlined out into the streets to be there for the team after enduring some tough years. It was a symbol of national pride and unity for the country in an unforgettable moment.
