HOUSTON (Diya TV) – Officials say many people from India are staying in tents on the US-Mexico border, along with citizens of other countries, hoping to sneak into the US and gain asylum. Several viral videos show people from Gujarat saying close to 5000 people were in line hoping to try their luck at getting into the U.S.
Captain Pratima Bhullar Maldonado, an Indian-American police officer working in the New York Police Department has become the highest-ranking South Asian female cop in the NYPD. Maldonado was born in Punjab, where she grew up till the age of nine before moving to Queens with her family. Maldonado is also a mother of four.
Republican South Carolina Senator Tim Scott says he’s running for U.S. President, joining an already crowded GOP field including former President Donald Trump and Indian Americans Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is also expected to join the mix.
