PRAYAGRAJ, India (Diya TV) — On January 27, during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Hindu religious leaders convened a Dharam Sansad to deliberate on the establishment of a Sanatan Board. The assembly, led by spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj, aimed to unite various sects and safeguard the interests of Sanatan Dharma and its temples.

Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj stated that it was the collective desire of all Dharmacharyas for the formation of the Sanatan Board. He added, “We all want the formation of the Sanatan Board, and we are submitting this proposal to the Government. All Dharmacharyas are united in their desire to ensure the safety and security of Sanatan Dharma and temples.”

The All India Akhada Parishad (ABAP), under the leadership of President Mahant Ravindra Puri, played a pivotal role in organizing the event. Before the meeting, Mahant Puri said, “On January 27, a Dharma Sansad will be organised in our pandal located on the Kali Road in the fair area, in which saints and scholars from the country and abroad will come and talks will be held with all of them.”

All 13 Akhadas were represented by saints, Peethadheeshwars, and Mahamandaleshwars in the Dharam Sansad. The discussions revolved around the framework and bylaws of the proposed Sanatan Board, focusing on the aspect that only saints and mahatmas from the akhadas be accommodated within the board. Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avdhoot Baba Arun Giri Ji Maharaj of the Avahan Akhara remarked, “Only saints and mahatmas should decide the rules and regulations for the Sanatan Board and men from all the 13 Akhadas should be the officers in this board.”

The establishment of the Sanatan Board is also perceived as a protection measure for the rights and properties of Sanatan Dharma institutions. The leaders expressed worries about external interference and emphasized the need to have a more organized body for its representation and management of all Sanatan temples and organizations. The draft constitution of the Sanatan Board was finalized in the assembly, which was an important milestone toward its official formation.

The Dharam Sansad at the Maha Kumbh established the collective determination of Hindu religious leaders to uphold and propagate Sanatan Dharma. The mooted Sanatan Board is going to be a single, unified institution to address matters concerning temples, religious practices, and the general welfare of the Sanatan community throughout India.
