SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – A U.S. court dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by The Hindu American Foundation against Rutgers University professor Audrey Truschke and several activists.  Last year, one of the activists told news agency Al Jazeera that US government watchdog groups and human rights organizations should take note of the misappropriation of funds raised for Covid-19 by “Hindu supremacist groups” including HAF. Truschke was also named in this suit because she retweeted the article and added these organizations promoted religious bigotry and violence in India.

In Long Island New York, 32-year-old Indian-American entrepreneur Tanya Bathija and her dog died after a fire broke out inside her home. Firefighters responded but by then it was too late. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Bathija recently opened a Dunkin’ Donuts outlet in the community.

Leo Varadkar is coming back to serve as Ireland’s Prime Minister for the second time. Varadkar is of Indian descent and the country’s youngest PM. The medical doctor is also the first openly gay man to hold this position in an overwhelmingly Catholic country.
