GREENVILLE, S.C. (Diya TV) — The Greenville County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina has released the names of the victims involved in a devastating accident on Interstate 85. Identified as Manisha Rajendra Patel, Sangita Bhavnesh Patel, and Rekhaben Dilip Patel, these three women tragically lost their lives in a collision near Staunton Bridge Road.

The accident, which occurred around noon, involved a 2020 Volvo SUV traveling in the northbound lanes of Interstate 85. According to reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the SUV was observed speeding before it veered off the roadway, crossed all traffic lanes, and ascended an embankment. Witnesses described the vehicle as launching approximately 20 feet into the air before colliding with trees on the other side of the bridge.

Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis, speaking to local media outlets, commented on the severity of the crash. He stated that the impact was so forceful that the SUV struck trees at least 20 feet above the ground, resulting in fatal injuries to the occupants. The victims, originally from the Anand District in Gujarat, India, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders, including units from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Gannt Fire and Rescue, and multiple Greenville County Emergency Medical Services teams, swiftly mobilized to the accident site. Despite their efforts, the three women could not be saved, and the driver of the SUV was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Ellis emphasized the unusual circumstances surrounding the accident, noting that it’s uncommon to witness a vehicle leaving the roadway at such high speed and launching across multiple traffic lanes. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the crash, as authorities seek to understand the events leading up to the tragic incident.
