WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has launched an aggressive effort to reform the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), forming a new task force aimed at rooting out politicization, waste, and abuse while prioritizing transparency and efficiency.
The Director’s Initiatives Group (DIG), Gabbard’s newly formed task force, is executing a slate of executive orders from President Donald Trump designed to overhaul the structure and function of the intelligence apparatus. DIG’s mission includes declassifying high-interest materials, eliminating bureaucratic waste, investigating unauthorized leaks, and reviewing personnel conduct across agencies.
“In order to rebuild trust in the Intelligence Community and execute the tasks required by President Trump’s intelligence-related executive orders, I established the Director’s Initiatives Group,” Gabbard told Fox News Digital. “We are already identifying wasteful spending in real time, streamlining outdated processes, reviewing documents for declassification, and leading ongoing efforts to root out abuses of power and politicization.”
Among the files under review for potential declassification are records related to the origins of COVID-19, the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged Trump-Russia collusion, and Anomalous Health Incidents—often linked to “Havana Syndrome.” DIG is also reviewing classified documents related to the federal government’s surveillance and censorship practices under the Biden administration, as well as historical files on the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In line with Executive Order 14176, which mandates the declassification of those assassination files, the Director’s office has already initiated the release of certain previously classified documents.
Gabbard’s efforts go beyond paperwork. She has revoked security clearances for numerous former officials, including former President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Also affected are the 51 intelligence veterans who signed the October 2020 letter dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop story as likely “Russian disinformation,” a claim that has since been disputed. These actions fall under Executive Order 14152, which targets election interference and the mishandling of sensitive information.
“We are committed to executing the President’s vision and focusing the Intelligence Community on its core mission: ensuring our security by providing the President and policymakers with timely, apolitical, objective, relevant intelligence,” Gabbard said.
DIG has also led internal investigations into employee misconduct, specifically addressing inappropriate use of NSA internal messaging boards. According to Fox News Digital, federal employees across agencies—including the NSA, U.S. Naval Intelligence, and the Defense Intelligence Agency—are under scrutiny for sharing sexually explicit content under the banner of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Chat logs obtained by the conservative Manhattan Institute reportedly include discussions of gender-reassignment surgery, hormone therapy, and polyamory.
Gabbard claims the Biden administration had long been aware of the content but failed to intervene. “These chatrooms were set up because of DEI policies,” she told Fox News Digital. Holding those employees accountable is part of a broader initiative to restore professionalism and integrity within the IC.
DIG is also implementing a top-to-bottom review of the intelligence community’s structure, resource allocation, and workforce efficiency. This initiative supports multiple executive orders aimed at reducing bureaucracy, streamlining operations, and cutting costs—particularly Executive Orders 14158, 14210, and 14217.
As Gabbard’s task force accelerates its mission, her office has made clear this is only the beginning of a long-term push for reform. “The Intelligence Community must be accountable to the American people,” Gabbard said, “and we will not stop until that trust is fully restored.
