OAKVILLE, Canada (Diya TV) — Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) officers have arrested four men in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins and fraud cases that affected dozens of residents in Oakville, Canada. The suspects, all residents of Brampton, face multiple charges following an investigation into incidents that took place in November and December.
On November 24, police responded to reports of overnight vehicle break-ins in neighborhoods near Rosehill Drive and Shady Glen Road. Police determined that three suspects, travelling in a white Honda Civic sedan, had targeted 25 vehicles parked on driveways and streets. The suspects allegedly smashed windows to gain access to the cars, stealing such items as cash, debit cards and credit cards.
Police have said that some of the cards stolen were later used for purchases at various commercial locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
A break in the case came on December 1 when HRPS officers responded to a report of another vehicle break-in on Meadow Marsh Crescent. The officers spotted a white Honda Civic leaving the scene and pulled it over for a traffic stop. During the on-scene investigation, police identified four suspects and linked three of them to the earlier vehicle entries.
The suspects – Gurparkar Singh, 19, Akshdeep Singh, 20, Kanavpreet Singh, 20, and Dilpreet Singh, 21 — are charged with various counts of offenses. All four are facing the charge of mischief under $5,000, while Gurparkar, Akshdeep, and Kanavpreet are facing additional counts against them, which are that of theft under $5,000, fraud under $5,000, and unauthorized use of credit card.
The evidence suggests these individuals acted with clear intent, causing financial and emotional distress to multiple victims,” said an HRPS spokesperson.
All four accused remain in custody pending bail hearings. The authorities confirmed that the men are in Canada on student visas, raising concerns about potential immigration consequences.
HRPS is urging residents to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
This is a reminder for the community to take preventative measures, such as locking vehicles and removing valuables, to deter criminal activity,” police said in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing. Residents with information or surveillance footage related to the incidents are encouraged to contact HRPS or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
