NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Former President Bill Clinton was questioned under oath by the U.S. House Oversight Committee as part of its ongoing investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The closed-door deposition took place in Chappaqua, New York, near the former president’s residence. It followed the committee’s deposition of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton one day earlier. Lawmakers interviewed as part of a broader effort to examine Epstein’s associations with high-profile individuals and to assess whether institutional failures enabled his criminal conduct to continue for years.
During the session, members of the committee questioned Clinton about his past interactions with Epstein, including travel and meetings that occurred in the early 2000s. Public records have previously shown that Clinton flew on Epstein’s private aircraft multiple times and attended events where Epstein was present. In the deposition, Clinton denied any knowledge of Epstein’s illegal activities and stated that he had no involvement in wrongdoing. He also indicated that he severed contact with Epstein before the financier’s later federal prosecution.
The committee’s investigation is examining how Epstein cultivated relationships with political leaders, business executives, and other influential figures despite earlier criminal allegations. Lawmakers are reviewing documents, flight logs, communications, and prior court records to determine whether warning signs were overlooked or whether systemic failures allowed Epstein to maintain access to powerful networks.
Epstein was first charged in Florida in 2008 and later faced federal sex trafficking charges in New York in 2019. He died in custody in August 2019 while awaiting trial. His death was ruled a suicide by the New York City medical examiner, though it has continued to generate public scrutiny and questions about jail oversight.
Members of Congress from both parties have stated that neither Bill Clinton nor Hillary Clinton has been charged with crimes related to Epstein. Some lawmakers have argued that other public figures with documented past associations with Epstein should also be questioned to ensure consistency in the inquiry.
The Oversight Committee is expected to review transcripts of the deposition and determine whether further testimony or document requests are necessary. The investigation remains ongoing, with additional witnesses potentially scheduled to appear as lawmakers continue to examine the scope of Epstein’s network and any related institutional failures.
