SUNRISE, Florida (Diya TV)—The Florida Panthers have officially cemented their place in NHL history.
On Tuesday night, they closed out the 2025 Stanley Cup Final in commanding fashion, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5–1 in Game 6 to win their second straight championship. Florida became the first team to repeat since the Tampa Bay Lightning did it in 2020 and 2021.
The star of the night—and possibly the entire series—was Sam Reinhart, who delivered a performance for the ages. The 29-year-old forward scored four goals, joining a rare class of players to achieve such a feat in a Cup Final. He’s the first player to score four goals in a series-clinching game since Babe Dye in 1922.
Florida came out aggressive from the opening puck drop. Matthew Tkachuk gave the Panthers an early 2–0 lead after Reinhart opened the scoring, and by the second period, the lead had grown to three. Two empty-netters from Reinhart in the final frame iced the game.
Sergei Bobrovsky was once again outstanding in net, stopping 28 of 29 shots. The Panthers’ gritty and relentless playing style proved to be too much for Edmonton to handle over the course of the series. Florida led for more than 60% of total game time across the six games—an NHL record for a Final that didn’t go seven.
Sam Bennett was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. He finished the postseason with 15 goals, including 13 on the road, setting a new league record.
For the Edmonton Oilers, the wait for a Cup continues. Despite having arguably the best player in the world in McDavid, the franchise hasn’t hoisted Lord Stanley since 1990.
