AUSTIN, Texas (Diya TV) —  Elon Musk says he has started a new political party. He calls it the “America Party.” But so far, there’s no clear sign that the group officially exists.

Musk made the announcement Saturday on X, the social platform he owns. He said the new party would help “give you back your freedom.” In earlier posts, Musk had threatened to form a party if Congress passed a spending bill he opposed.

On Sunday, Musk invited X users to share feedback. He hinted that the America Party could play a role in the 2026 midterm elections.

Despite his statements, Musk has not provided further details. His political action committee, America PAC, did not respond to questions on Monday. Neither did representatives for his companies.

In the hours after Musk’s post, several filings appeared in the Federal Election Commission (FEC) database. They used names like “America Party,” “DOGE,” or “X.” Some filings listed Musk himself or Tesla Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja. A few included addresses tied to Musk’s businesses in Texas or even a private home in Maryland.

Many filings raised red flags. Some listed strange or fake email addresses, like “[email protected].” Others used encrypted accounts from ProtonMail. When a Musk supporter shared one of the documents on X, Musk replied quickly. He said the filing was false and had been reported to the FEC.

Starting a legitimate political party requires more than a social media post. A party must register with the FEC if it raises or spends enough money in a federal election. It also needs a tax ID, a bank account, and a treasurer who is legally responsible for filings. After that, the party must file regular financial reports.

Even then, a party must gain ballot access in each state. That process is long, costly, and complex. University of Richmond law professor Carl Tobias said it is “complicated and expensive.”

Musk’s political move adds to his growing conflict with President Donald Trump. The two once shared political goals. Musk supported Trump publicly and even advised his administration on cutting government costs.

Now, that relationship appears to be over. Musk recently blasted Trump’s tax policy as “insane.” He has also promised to support primary challengers against members of Congress who voted for the spending bill. Musk even said he would back Rep. Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican targeted by Trump.

This feud could hurt both men. Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, receive billions in government contracts. Tesla’s stock price has also dropped in recent weeks. Critics say Musk’s political drama is distracting investors and damaging public trust.

Musk had earlier suggested he might pull back from politics. But his recent actions show the opposite. He spent an estimated $250 million supporting Trump during the 2024 election. Now, he appears ready to use his money and influence in a new direction.

Still, third parties in the U.S. face steep odds. Most struggle to gain support or access to major ballots. The country’s two-party system leaves little room for newcomers. But Musk, with his vast resources and media reach, could be different. If he pours money into the America Party or other races, he might shape the outcome of close contests.

Trump has already responded. On Sunday, he called Musk’s idea “ridiculous.” He also claimed Musk was “off the rails” and a “train wreck.” Trump warned that third parties only create “DISRUPTION & CHAOS.”

The public feud has become personal. Both men have loyal supporters. Their split could divide voters ahead of the 2026 elections.

For now, the America Party exists mostly in name. No verified filing connects directly to Musk. No legal framework has been confirmed. And no campaign efforts have begun. But Musk has created headlines and stirred speculation. His plans, if real, could shake up American politics once again.
