DURHAM, N.C. (Diya TV) — Danica Bajaj, a Duke University senior, has been selected as a finalist for the university’s Undergraduate Young Trustee position, demonstrating her commitment to building inclusive communities and encouraging institutional equity.
Bajaj, who is from Princeton, New Jersey, is pursuing a degree in computer science with a minor in philosophy. Her dedication to leadership and service is apparent through her immense activity on campus. She has been a member of the Student Conduct Board, a Duke Presidential Ambassador, and a Project Herd orientation leader and Duke Kunshan University Orientation leader.
She is also on the leadership team of Duke Dhamaka, the university’s flagship Bhangra dance team. Her commitment to service is not limited to Duke’s campus. In 2024, Bajaj received the Forever Duke Leadership Award, which is given to graduating students for their leadership and service to the university.
Before attending Duke, she co-founded Helping Hands, a non-profit organization that matches volunteers with individuals and organizations in need, providing services like online tutoring and grocery delivery. The Young Trustee role at Duke University enables a student to be a member of the Board of Trustees, bringing a special voice to the university’s leadership. The process of selection includes a series of assessments, such as interviews and public forums.
