LASALLE, Canada (Diya TV) — A 45-year-old woman of Punjabi origin who was known for her outspoken social media presence died after a fatal stabbing in LaSalle, Ontario, police said. The killing has shocked the local community and triggered an ongoing homicide investigation. Authorities identified the victim as Nancy Grewal of Windsor. Grewal was widely known online as a YouTuber who often posted strong opinions about politics, religion, and international issues.

Police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing Tuesday night in a residential neighborhood. When first responders arrived, they found Grewal with severe stab wounds. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, but she later died from her injuries. In an interview with Indian media, her mother said Grewal was stabbed a total of 18 times. Investigators have not yet confirmed a suspect in the case.

The LaSalle Police Service said officers and paramedics received a call shortly before 9:30 p.m. about a stabbing in the 2400 block of Todd Lane in LaSalle. Emergency responders arrived quickly and located Grewal outside a residence.

Doctors attempted life-saving treatment, but she later succumbed to her injuries, police said. Investigators secured the area soon after the attack. Authorities taped off several homes along Todd Lane between Canada Street and Bishop Street while detectives collected evidence.

Police also searched a wooded area about one kilometer away near the walking trails by Herb Gray Parkway. Officers placed multiple evidence markers along a walkway and near the front steps of one residence. Officials have not disclosed what evidence investigators recovered.

Friends and followers described Grewal as a vocal commentator on social and political issues. She frequently shared opinions on YouTube and other social media platforms. Grewal openly discussed tensions between India and Canada. She often criticized extremist views and spoke against Khalistani terrorism in her videos. She also posted strong criticism of several political leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Her commentary sometimes sparked heated debate online.

Supporters said she spoke firmly against radicalism and separatist violence. Critics sometimes described her statements as controversial. Police have not said whether her online activity played any role in the attack.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, the LaSalle Police Service offered condolences to Grewal’s family and friends.

“The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal,” the statement said.

Officials also addressed public concerns about safety in the area. Investigators said they currently believe the incident appears isolated. However, police have not shared details about possible motives or suspects. Authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

The fatal stabbing comes about two weeks after another deadly incident connected to the Windsor region. On Feb. 18, police found a 44-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus in Windsor. Emergency crews attempted life-saving treatment, but the victim later died.

Investigators said that the case also had connections to LaSalle. Officers arrested a suspect the same day at a residence on Broderick Road in LaSalle. Authorities have not indicated whether the two cases share any direct link.

Detectives continue to examine the Todd Lane crime scene and the surrounding areas. Officers have asked residents to review security camera footage from Tuesday night. Investigators hope nearby surveillance systems captured movements or vehicles that could help identify a suspect.

Police are urging anyone with information about the LaSalle homicide to contact Det. Sgt. Jamie Nestor of the LaSalle Police Service. Officials also encourage residents with surveillance footage from the neighborhood to share it with investigators.
