BRAMPTON, Canada (Diya TV) — Peel Regional Police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a series of sexual assaults involving three women in Brampton. Arshdeep Singh, from Brampton, was charged with multiple counts, including sexual assault and kidnapping, after police linked him to three separate incidents that occurred earlier this month.
The first attack occurred on Friday, November 8, 2024, at approximately 7 a.m. An adult female was standing at a bus stop near Countryside Drive and Bramalea Road when a black four-door sedan pulled up to her. The driver, who claimed to be a rideshare driver, offered to give her a ride. Instead of taking her to her destination, the victim was taken to an area near Highway 27 and Nashville Road in Vaughan, where she was sexually assaulted.
Less than an hour later, at around 7:43 a.m., another woman was approached in a similar manner while waiting at a bus stop near Goreridge Crescent and Via Romano Way in Brampton. She accepted a ride from a man in a black sedan who also claimed to be a rideshare driver. The suspect drove her to Highway 50, south of Gore Road, where she was sexually assaulted.
The third attack happened on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at around 6:45 a.m. The victim was standing at a bus stop on Airport Road and Humberwest Parkway in Brampton when a newer model sedan pulled up to her. The driver offered her a ride, which she accepted. She was taken to the area of Countryside Drive, just west of Airport Road, where the assault happened.
Singh is suspected of all these incidents. According to statements, the culprit spoke Punjabi to the victims during the assaults, and through this statement also, police became suspicious of him.
Singh has been charged with three counts of kidnapping, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault by strangulation, robbery, and two counts of uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Peel Regional Police are still investigating the incident and ask the public to be alert. “Thanks to the team of tireless investigators who worked round the clock to make the arrest. We will do everything in our power to stop gender-based and sexual violence and bring perpetrators to justice,” said Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich of Peel Regional Police.
The York Regional Police also collaborated with Peel investigators. “This is yet another example of a successful outcome as a result of cooperation between our two services,” said Deputy Chief Alvaro Almeida of York Regional Police.
