BRAMPTON, CANADA (Diya TV) — In a groundbreaking event scheduled for April next year, Canada is set to reveal the towering 55-feet Hanuman statue, making it the tallest depiction of a Hindu God in the country. Crafted by the acclaimed sculptor Naresh Kumawat from Rajasthan, this monumental statue is financed by the local temple administration and will be formally unveiled at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, coinciding with the celebration of Hanuman Jayanti.

Naresh Kumawat, a distinguished artist known for his expertise in sculpting Hindu deities, has a global portfolio that includes over 200 statues in 80 countries. His recent work on the 75-foot Samudra Manthan mural in the new parliament building in Delhi has garnered widespread recognition.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Kumawat shared that the final touches on the Hanuman Ji statue will be completed during the upcoming summer months, building anticipation for the grand unveiling in April.

This venture isn’t Kumawat’s first in Canada; previously, he constructed a 50-foot Hanuman Ji statue at the Voice of Vedas temple, establishing his reputation in the country. Internationally, Kumawat’s portfolio includes statues of eminent figures like Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Rabindranath Tagore, Indira Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela.

The significance of this statue is heightened by its position as the second of its kind in Canada, surpassing the former tallest Hanuman idol at 50 feet. The statue represents Hanuman, a Hindu deity embodying both man and monkey, believed to be the incarnate of the “destroyer god” Shiva and the “commander of the monkey army.”

Interestingly, the official unveiling on April 23 aligns with the pagan festival, Hanuman Jayanti, dedicated to celebrating the birth of the deity.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the upcoming event, it’s important to note that Brampton has experienced tensions within its community, particularly highlighted by clashes between Khalistan supporters and Hindus during a Diwali celebration in the previous year. This adds a layer of complexity to the cultural landscape of the region.

Naresh Kumawat’s legacy extends globally, with monumental works in countries like the United States, England, Australia, Poland, Mauritius, Seychelles, Dubai, Oman, and Russia. His previous achievements include record-breaking creations, such as the 369-foot seated Bhagwan Shiva statue in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, acknowledged in the Guinness Book of World Records, and a 156-foot-tall statue of Bhagwan Hanuman Ji in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, featured in the Limca Book of Records.
