FREMONT, Calif. (Diya TV) – A coordinated robbery involving multiple vehicles led to a high-intensity police response across Fremont on Wednesday evening. The incident began around 5:27 PM, when several carloads of suspects robbed Kumar Jewelers on Mowry Avenue, sparking a pursuit and lockdown in surrounding areas.
Eyewitnesses report a group of armed men in as many as six vehicles were involved. One of the vehicles was stopped, and four suspects were taken into custody. Some witnesses tell Diya TV up to 20 armed men were involved in the robbery effort, but we have not been able to independently verify that information as of press time.
Shortly after the stop, emergency dispatchers were notified of a suspect injured by a police canine. Additional paramedic units were called in after another suspect began experiencing breathing problems. Multiple ambulances responded to the scene near Fremont Boulevard and Walnut Avenue.
A command post was quickly established by police and officers, medics, and local residents coordinated search and rescue efforts as heavy activity has continued into the evening.
Preliminary reports indicated that CHP had spotted at least three of the involved vehicles driving recklessly northbound on I-880 near Thornton Avenue. License plate information was captured using LPR camera systems, with some of the vehicles suspected to be using stolen plates.
No official statement has been released regarding stolen items, injuries, or additional suspects. Some individuals were reportedly treated on-site or transported to local hospitals for evaluation.
