WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has emerged as a potential candidate for a cabinet position in a future Donald Trump administration, according to a report from Politico. The news comes as Donald Trump prepares for another presidential run in 2024 and looks to secure his inner circle with influential figures from the Republican Party.

Jindal, who had served as the governor of Louisiana between 2008 and 2016, has kept relatively quiet in the past two years or so but still exercises a plausible voice among the strong contingents of conservatism. His experience in governance and creating and modifying policies can make him a strong candidate for a significant role if Trump wins the elections.

According to Politico, Jindal could possibly end up in a health and human services position, which would be the kind of realm in which Jindal has experience on healthcare reform. Of his initiatives as governor, Jindal did have some initiatives to reform healthcare in his state. Some ideas he had, people even complimented, while other ideas people panned.

The potential appointment of Jindal is a part of a wider campaign of trying to appoint experienced, recognizable figures that can make his cabinet look stronger. Former President Bush is looking to bring together disparate factions within the Republican Party as he navigates the current electoral cycle.

Other political analysts claim that Jindal’s assumption into Trump’s cabinet may herald a drift to a policy-based governing administration. “Bobby comes with much experience in governance, especially in healthcare matters, which is particularly an issue for many voters,” Republican strategist Sarah Johnson said. “Perhaps he will help Trump to reach out to even more voters who genuinely care about working out good, effective policy.”.

While Jindal has not publicly commented on his potential role in a cabinet, his experience and political connections as well as his prior service with the GOP could facilitate this. Indeed, he ran for president in 2016 but suspended his campaign after the poor showings in the primaries.

Jindal’s background as a conservative stalwart, putting an emphasis on economic growth and education reform, will likely play well for the priorities of Trump’s base. His appointment could also prove appealing to many voters who are looking for a strong voice in healthcare, more so in light of the national discussion that is still ongoing about healthcare reform in the United States.
