NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — The leaders of the United States, Japan, India, and Australia met in person for the first day of the Quad Summit in Tokyo. The informal group is widely seen as part of an effort to counter China’s reach and territorial claims in the Indo-Pacific. North Korea’s nuclear ambitions and the war in Ukraine are also expected to be among the issues on the table.

Earlier, a massive crowd of Indians living in Japan greeted Indian Prime Minister Modi with an overwhelming reception, as he interacted with children waiting to welcome him at the airport.  The Prime Minister later took to Instagram and thanked all his supporters and posted a short video of this welcome.

In a rare joint statement, four Indian American lawmakers are publicly expressing deep concern about a recent incident of bullying at Coppell Middle School in Texas showing 14-year-old Shaan Pritmani being assaulted by a white student. Congressmen Ami Bera, Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal are all condemning this violence. The video has sparked widespread outrage in the Indian American community and the lawmakers say the possibility of a young Indian American being targeted in this manner is extremely disturbing.
