SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met with more than 100 U.S. semiconductor and technology leaders Aug. 18 as the state seeks to expand its role in the global technology industry.

Patel held round-table and one-to-one meetings during the second day of his U.S. visit. He presented Gujarat as a long-term partner for technology, innovation and supply-chain growth. He also highlighted the state’s plans to attract investment beyond traditional manufacturing.

Patel urged U.S. companies to explore opportunities in Gujarat. He also invited them to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027, scheduled for January.

The summit will offer business-to-business and business-to-government meetings. Patel said Gujarat wants to create a complete ecosystem for technology companies.

He also pointed to the need for reliable infrastructure and stable policies. According to Patel, technology companies need access to land, electricity, connectivity, capital and skilled workers.

Gujarat has increasingly promoted itself as a major destination for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. State officials have highlighted infrastructure, faster approvals and policy stability as key advantages.

Patel met with leaders from AI, HealthTech, EdTech and gaming. In addition, gaming emerged as another area of interest. Patel and industry leaders discussed ways to build Gujarat’s gaming industry through supportive policies, innovation and stronger industry participation.

The upcoming Commonwealth Games in Gujarat also formed part of the discussions. Officials and industry representatives considered how the event could create opportunities for the state’s gaming and technology ecosystem.

Semiconductor manufacturing remains a major part of Gujarat’s technology strategy. The state has sought to attract chip companies by offering infrastructure, policy support and a business-friendly environment.

Industry representatives at the meetings pointed to Gujarat’s infrastructure and approval processes. They also cited the state’s approach to supporting new businesses and technology projects.

As a result, Gujarat hopes to attract more investment in semiconductor manufacturing, AI and other technology-intensive industries.

Patel’s U.S. trip forms part of Gujarat’s wider international outreach before the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.

On the first day, Patel met members of the Gujarati diaspora in San Francisco. He called for stronger connections between global Gujarati talent and Gujarat’s semiconductor and technology sectors.

Chief Secretary M.K. Das and Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Mamta Verma also addressed the meetings. They outlined Gujarat’s economic development and the state’s preparations for the 2027 summit.
