UDAIPUR, India (Diya TV) — Indian badminton star PV Sindhu tied the knot with Venkata Datta Sai, an executive at Hyderabad-based Posidex Technologies, in an elegant and intimate wedding ceremony in Udaipur on December 22. The ceremony was attended by close family and friends, with the couple radiating happiness in traditional attire as they exchanged vows.
Two-time Olympic medal winner and one of India’s most celebrated athletes, Sindhu, shared her joy on social media two days after the wedding. She posted a series of photos from the ceremony, adding a heart emoji to capture the couple’s smiles and the beauty of the event.
Notable guests included officials from the Rajasthan government. A few of them shared the photos taken at the wedding on social media, showing the private ceremony. The father of Sindhu stated that the wedding was planned in such a way as to accommodate her busy badminton schedule. In December, she had time for the ceremony.
After their Udaipur wedding, the newlywed couple had a stylish reception which marked their refined tastes. Sindhu, stunned in Falguni, Shane Peacock designed ivory tulle lehenga, Swarovski crystals, sequins and heavy embroidery. She donned a full-sleeved blouse with cut out bodice, embellished skirt and sheer dupatta. She accessorized it with a diamond necklace highlighted with emerald pendants and matching earrings, finishing with her diamond engagement ring.
Sai, the groom, complemented Sindhu’s attire with a sleek black velvet bandhgala, which was further decorated with silk embroidery and sequin detailing. He wore classic black trousers to go with the look, and the couple’s coordinated outfits added to the elegance of the event.
Her accomplishments on the badminton court makes Sindhu a global icon of Indian sports. She has won five World Championship medals including gold in 2019, and two Olympic medals—a silver at the Rio Games in 2016 and a bronze at Tokyo 2020. This has made Sindhu reach No. 2 in world rankings since 2017 and inspire a generation of athletes around the world.
