NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Thursday marked the grand opening of Apple Computer’s newest store, this one in the Oculus of the freshly minted Westfield Mall at One World Trade Center.

The store features two floors, a 6K video screen which spans half the space itself, and a living wall. In a special twist, the store includes no space for Apple’s trademark Genius Bar. The new location has been opened just two and a half weeks after Apple opened its first store in Brooklyn, and 15 years after the original World Trade Center mall was brought down during the 9/11 attacks.

Apple now has seven retail locations in Manhattan alone, with the World Trade Center store joined by the iconic Fifth Avenue cube, a Grand Central Terminal location, as well as stores in SoHo, the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and the Meatpacking District

“We’re honored and humbled to have a small and supporting role in the rebirth of the World Trade Center,” said Angela Ahrendts, senior vice president of Retail and Online Stores. “We look forward to serving all who visit, live and work in this remarkable community.”

The store’s 270 employees include native New Yorkers as well as staff who join from 49 different Apple stores, according to the company’s website.

As companies like Microsoft trend towards a white, minimalist design, Apple has embraced organic elements and warm hues.
