NEW YORK (Diya TV) – 34 year old Amandeep Singh, a New York man accused of drunk driving and killing two 14-year-old boys, appeared in court on new charges. Singh pleaded not guilty to a 15-count indictment, including vehicular homicide and DUI. Prosecutors allege he was driving at 95 mph, twice the legal limit, and was high on cocaine. Singh is being held without bail and faces up to 32 years in prison if convicted.
Caltech recognized 13 faculty members with professorships, including Indian Americans Smruthi Karthikeyan and Karthish Manthiram. Karthikeyan is a professor of environmental science and engineering. Manthiram is a professor of chemical engineering and chemistry.
Indian American leaders including Vice President Kamala Harris, presidential candidate Nikki Haley, journalist Fareed Zakaria and surgeon Atul Gawande delivered speeches at college commencement ceremonies across the country. They shared stories of success and overcoming challenges in their respective fields, motivating graduates as they transition into the workforce. The speeches emphasized the importance of perseverance, excellence and addressing systemic issues.
