SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – Air India ordered a record 470 planes, worth more than $100 billion dollars, from Boeing and Airbus, in a sign of the scale of the post-pandemic rebound in the aviation industry and the growing market in India. In a statement, President Biden said the Boeing order would support more than one million American jobs, many of which would not require a college degree. He also said the deal reflected the strength of the ties between the United States and India.

In Texas, Indian American Pervez Agwan says he’s running for Congress in District 7, considered one of the most ethnically diverse areas in the state which includes a small part of Houston. Agwan says he will not take any money from special interest groups.

The Consulate General of India in Toronto condemned the defacing of a temple in Mississauga, a neighboring city, with “anti-India graffiti”, and said it has raised the issue with Canadian authorities. The white exterior walls of the temple were spray-painted with slogans criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
