ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Diya TV) — Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government said Friday that its Air Force carried out overnight airstrikes against what it described as ISIS hideouts in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. The announcement marks a significant development in regional security and highlights Afghanistan’s growing focus on cross-border threats.
The Ministry of Defence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced the operation in a statement posted on X. According to the ministry, the strikes targeted locations that ISIS militants allegedly used to plan and coordinate attacks against Afghanistan.
The ministry said the operation took place during the night and focused on several locations in Pakistan. Officials claimed the targeted sites had links to ISIS-Khorasan, also known as ISIS-K, and other hostile groups that threatened Afghanistan’s security.
According to the statement, Afghan aircraft struck targets in the Gulistan area of Qila Abdullah District and the Shakar Ab Jungle Gardi area of Chagai District in Balochistan province. The ministry said these locations served as joint facilities used by ISIS militants and other hostile elements.
In addition, Afghan forces targeted an ISIS-K facility in the Qamber Khel area of Orakzai Agency in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Afghan officials described the site as a location frequently visited by several senior ISIS-K leaders.
The ministry stated that all designated targets were successfully hit during the operation. It also said preliminary information indicated that the strikes achieved their intended objectives. However, Afghan authorities did not provide details about casualties or damage at the targeted sites.
Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities had not immediately commented on the claims. Independent verification of the operation and its reported results remained unavailable at the time of the announcement.
The Afghan government has repeatedly identified ISIS-K as one of the most serious security threats facing the country. Over the past several years, the group has carried out numerous attacks against civilians, religious minorities, and security forces across Afghanistan. As a result, Afghan authorities have intensified efforts to dismantle the group’s networks and operational capabilities.
In its latest statement, the Ministry of Defence stressed that Afghanistan would not tolerate any threats to its national security. The ministry said hostile groups had used the targeted locations to organize attacks and destabilize the country.
Furthermore, officials emphasized what they described as a new security approach. The ministry declared that Afghanistan would no longer allow external threats to undermine its stability. It also pledged to use all available military resources to confront and eliminate dangers to the country.
The statement underscored Afghanistan’s determination to respond directly to security challenges. Afghan officials said the government would continue taking action against groups that threaten the nation’s safety and sovereignty.
At the same time, the announcement could draw attention across the region because it involves strikes on locations inside Pakistan.
