TORONTO (Diya TV) — Peel Regional Police arrested five individuals and are seeking two more in connection with a suspected organized shoplifting ring that stole an estimated nearly $240,000 in alcohol from Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) stores in the Greater Toronto Area.
Police say the group hit around 50 LCBO stores between August 2024 and February 2025, employing coordinated strategies to distract staff while others entered restricted areas to steal liquor. Police released photos of suspects with large amounts of alcohol in boxes and pushcarts.
Police arrested Anuj Kumar, 25, Simarpeet Singh, 29, Sharndeep Singh, 25, and Simranjeet Singh, 24, with no fixed address, and Prabhpreet Singh, 29, of Caledon. Each is charged with theft over $5,000. Sharndeep Singh has also been charged with breach of release order, Simranjeet Singh with break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offense, and Prabhpreet Singh with conspiracy to commit an indictable offense.
The investigators continue to look for two other suspects, Jagshir Singh, 28, and Punit Sehjra, 25, who have no fixed abode. “Our work by our Criminal Investigation Bureau has been nothing short of outstanding in taking down this prolific organized crime syndicate,” Deputy Chief Marc Andrews stated. “By making the arrests and charging several people, we’re making it loud and clear that those who victimize our communities will be found and brought to justice.”
The suspects attended a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. Police indicate that the investigation is continuing and additional charges may be laid.
