SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — The Golden State Warriors announced they will retire Andre Iguodala’s No. 9 jersey on February 23, during a home game against the Dallas Mavericks at Chase Center. The announcement coincided with Iguodala’s 41st birthday.

Iguodala, who retired in October 2023 after a 19-year NBA career, played a pivotal role in the Warriors’ success, contributing to four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. He was named Finals MVP in 2015.

Reflecting on his time with the Warriors, Iguodala credited teammates Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green for their combined success. “Without those guys, I wouldn’t be in this position,” he said. “I think they understand how important I was. But obviously Steph, Klay, and Draymond, just being so unique.”

Warriors co-executive chairman and. Joe Lacob was full of praise for Iguodala, saying, “he was the perfect player and person.”

Over his career, Iguodala also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat, where he earned an All-Star selection and two NBA All-Defensive team honors. He averaged 11.3 points, and 4.2 assists across 1,231 games.

With this honor, Iguodala became the seventh player in Warriors history to have their number retired, joining legends such as Wilt Chamberlain, Chris Mullin and Tom Meschery.

The jersey retirement ceremony will be conducted after the game on February 23 at Chase Center in San Francisco.
