NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Warner Bros. Discovery promoted Priya Aiyar to Chief Legal Officer, a role that includes responsibility for global legal and compliance functions, with Aiyar to start February 2025. She will report directly to Chief Executive David Zaslav.

Aiyar joins Warner Bros. Discovery from American Airlines, where she has served as Chief Legal Officer since 2022. There, she led the management of the airline’s legal affairs and strategies around the world, played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic, and supported new contracts with unionized workgroups.

Before that, Aiyar held senior positions in both private practice and the public sector. She was a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel PLLC. From 2013 to 2017, she served as Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel for the U.S. Department of the Treasury and as Deputy General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Energy.

Aiyar began her legal career clerking for Judge Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and Justice Stephen Breyer of the U.S. Supreme Court. She earned her Juris Doctor at Yale Law School, a master’s degree at the University of Oxford, and her bachelor’s at Harvard University. She is also a Rhodes Scholar.

David Zaslav was confident that Aiyar’s appointment will help in navigating opportunities and the continuous evolution that the company is witnessing this year and beyond in order to achieve growth in streaming worldwide, a return to excellence in the studios, and optimization of linear business.
