NEW DELHI, INDIA (Diya TV) — Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg ended his three-day India visit, marking his first overseas trip since becoming CEO in August. During the visit, he met with several key stakeholders including Indian Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, discussing the ongoing investments and partnerships by Boeing in India’s aerospace and defense sectors.

“Our partnership with India continues to deepen, and Boeing is committed to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative,” said Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India.

Boeing’s presence in India is sizeable with over 280 civil and military aircraft operated by Indian airlines and defense forces currently. Besides, Indian carriers have ordered over 600 Boeing aircraft in order including the 737 Max, 787, and 777X.

The company is also expanding its defense operations and increasing procurement from Indian suppliers. Boeing sources over $1 billion worth of parts and components from India annually and has invested more than $200 million in its Bengaluru campus, its largest investment outside the United States.

In June 2023, Boeing declared that it would be investing $100 million in infrastructure and pilot training programs in India. This investment supports the country’s growing aviation needs.
