ATLANTA (Diya TV) — India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Kwatra, urged American business leaders to expand investment and strengthen supply chain partnerships with India during a business reception in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Kwatra addressed business leaders from across the southeastern United States at an event hosted by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum. He said India offers strong opportunities for companies that want to diversify supply chains, invest in manufacturing, and drive innovation. He also encouraged businesses to support India’s long-term development vision, known as “Viksit Bharat,” while helping both nations achieve their shared goal of reaching $500 billion in bilateral trade.

The ambassador shared details of the event in a post on X. He said India’s strong economic growth, expanding industrial base, talented workforce, and innovation ecosystem create new opportunities for global investment. He added that companies from the southeastern United States can play an important role in building stronger commercial ties between the two countries.

The business reception followed a series of high-level meetings that Kwatra held in Georgia on Monday. During those engagements, he met state leaders, business executives, and university officials to explore new areas of cooperation.

Kwatra first met Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp. During the meeting, he congratulated the governor on his successful tenure and discussed the growing trade relationship between India and Georgia. Both sides also explored ways to improve business connectivity and encourage greater collaboration in innovation and education.

After the meeting, Kwatra said he looks forward to Georgia making an even stronger contribution to India-U.S. relations. He noted that closer cooperation between the state and India can create new economic opportunities for businesses and strengthen long-term partnerships.

The ambassador also met UPS Chief Executive Officer Carol Tomé. Their discussion centered on the growing economic relationship between India and the United States. In addition, they reviewed opportunities to strengthen resilient supply chains and improve logistics connectivity.

Kwatra said UPS continues to expand its investments and business presence in India. He also emphasized that India offers attractive opportunities for companies working in manufacturing, innovation, logistics, and global business services. Therefore, he encouraged more American companies to explore investment opportunities in the Indian market.

India has continued to promote itself as a major manufacturing and technology hub. The country has invested heavily in infrastructure, digital services, and industrial development in recent years. At the same time, it has worked to attract foreign investment by improving the business environment and expanding production capabilities across several sectors.

As part of his visit, Kwatra also participated in the India-U.S. Education Roundtable hosted by the Consulate General of India in Atlanta. During the event, he met leaders from 20 universities across the southeastern United States.

Education remains an important pillar of the India-U.S. relationship. Thousands of Indian students study in the United States each year, while universities from both countries continue to build partnerships in research, technology, and innovation. These collaborations help prepare students for future careers and encourage the exchange of knowledge.

As India continues to position itself as a global manufacturing and innovation destination, officials hope that increased American investment will support stronger commercial partnerships that could help both countries move closer to their shared target of $500 billion in bilateral trade.
